I am looking for a software to make music that maybe even goes as far as setting up a beat/some basic music based on genre that can be tweeked to produce different songs.
If it is already in the stickies I’ll find it and delete this.
I guess you want some kind of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and some collection of templates/samples for different genres. You’d better to ask this in !musicproduction@lemmy.ml than in DIY Music Gear, as it’ll be more on topic there :)

I just re-read your post… I got the wrong idea the first time. On a Mac, try Garage Band. For Windows, Reaper, or Studio One Prime (Prime is the free version) are good places to start.
