The true number of playable games is of course much higher, but this is still an impressive milestone.
For comparison: the Nintendo Switch has roughly 4500 games available for it, the PS5 has about 500 games (+ 3500 PS4 games), and the Xbox Series X/S have 400 (+ 3000 Xbox One games).
Wait. Why? Everything I’ve tried works well. Maybe I haven’t tried enough games?
They might just mean that ProtonDB has a much higher number of games marked as playable or (or playable with tweaks) than Valve’s verified system.
ProtonDB is a better measurement for what will run correctly whereas “playable” vs “verified” has more to do with more tangential issues such as the text is the readable on a tiny screen or it doesn’t use the mouse, etc.
In my mind ProtonDB is more reliable than playable but to your point, the number of times there’s meaningful disagreement between the two at this stage is so low given almost everything is running wrt my library to render it a moot point
