The challenges for Indian students pursuing medical degrees in war-torn Ukraine show no signs of abating, as they grapple with increasing hostility from sections of the local population, who perceive India as supporting Russia in the ongoing conflict. The situation has escalated since Ukraine initiated its recent offensive operations in June.

As an Indian student my biggest concern living in in Ukraine would not be racism from Ukrainian shopkeepers, but Russian cruise missiles threatening my life.
It is stupid that the Indian authorities don’t let their students continue studying in a country the Russians aren’t killing people in. Even in a cold calculating way, diplomatically, what happens if a missile strike kills a few dozen Indians? How will it affect relations?
As for the Ukrainians, it’s not like Ukrainian society was a beacon of democracy and freedom before, but if I recall correctly the whole war started because Russia was trying to keep it like that so Ukraine wouldn’t develop alliances with the democratic half of the world. They have a long way to go, and the first step is to expel the troops of the literal dictatorship they have been trying to shake out of the country.
