I’m in the same boat. I know I’ll survive with 50% of my current pay if i have a less stressful job but then all IT jobs are stressful, some just pay way worse for the same type of work.
Finding a job which won’t turn stressful after a while is really hard.

That tracks with my experience as that time period covers the start of my career.
That being said, it goes back even farther.
Not in IT. IT was a sleepy job where you used to babysit a mainframe or two that never broke. Shit hit the fan when PCs entered the fray.
I sadly missed those days :(
