I’m not surprised. They’re more expensive and far more inconvenient than petrol or diesel cars.
When electric cars are cheaper than petrol cars and when I can fill one up in 2 minutes I’ll consider buying one and not before.
This is Tesla sales, not EV sales. It strikes me as indicative of people finally deciding that they aren’t willing to give money to a company whose public face is Musk.

You know how long it takes to refuel my car? About 5 seconds. That’s about how long it takes to drag the connector over and plug it in before I head inside.
I also don’t have to worry about being mugged inside the store, having things stolen from my vehicle, or even the vehicle itself stolen, or having my credit card skimmed and stolen.
Oh shoot then why do I always see people sitting in their cars in parking lots charging if it only takes 5 seconds
Believe it or not there are actually different types of charging. The type you’re referring to is rarely to never necessary for most people.

Most of those things could happen regardless of what kind of car you have, or where your car is.
They don’t happen if you don’t go to the gas station. If my car is electric I don’t need to go to the gas station.
