Summary

House Republicans narrowly passed their budget resolution by a vote of 217-215, a big win for Speaker Mike Johnson with an extremely slim GOP majority.

The measure begins the process to implement Trump’s legislative agenda through reconciliation, requiring only a simple majority to pass, but both the House and Senate must adopt the exact same resolution.

Democrats, fearing massive Medicaid cuts, strongly opposed the resolution and scrambled to get members to the floor, including Rep. Brittany Petterson, on maternity leave, and Rep. Kevin Mullin, who used a walker.

The resolution now heads to the Senate.

House Democratic leaders complained in a message to Democrats that Johnson was trying to “jam” the budget resolution through after assuring them there would be no further votes in the House for the night.

So the fuckers claimed there would be no more votes, waited for some Dems to leave, and then quickly scheduled another vote to try and get it through before the democratic reps could get back? I wish I could say I was surprised but there is no depth to which they can sink that can surprise me now.
