I want every dollar I paid into the system in the last 20+ years of my work life back if they cancel those programs.

In other western countries, the state asks for taxes so it can use them to provide services to its citizen. In my country, states actually lower taxes when they’ve had too much net income in a year. Because why ask for so much money if you don’t actually need it.

In the US, it sounds like taxes are seen as a tribute to the ruling elite, with anything given back to the people seen as evil and undeserved.

Too many see taxation, mainly income tax, as theft and want the absolute minimum taken out (pretty much fund police and military only). Nevermind that keeping people clothed, sheltered, and fed and keeping wages fair are better ways to eliminate crime.

It’s mostly used to fund the military and it’s industry.

And they were intended to only effect the highest 95% of earners. If you make less than 3 million a year up until I want to say like 1954ish you didn’t pay tax at all. The ultra wealthy pushed a CD m across the board tax to lower their tax load so they could houses more wealth. Then they convinced you you’re poor because Javier is taking the higher paying job you “deserve” not because they’re extorting you for all you’re worth with shiny baubles sold at 130x their production cost.

Musk has no protection that federally elected officials do. If his fingerprints are on the corpses of the mentally ill in any form including cutting their financial support by calling it “entitlement” I will fucking execute his waddling ass. Full fucking stop. Dead man. Citizens are entitled to a minimum quality of life that isn’t shit. Musk isn’t even a citizen. He needs to get the fuck out of the public eye before he does something that requires a response. Like murdering the mentally ill like Republicans LOVE to do, which people should have fucking responded over by now. But they just step over their corpses and act put out.

Point of order: Musk is an US citizen with additional citizenships in Canada and South Africa.

Citizenships are rather hard to revoke in the US, and it is generally immoral to leave someone stateless. However, treason is one such way to get ones citizenship revoked.

We should get on that while he still has Canadian and South African citizenships.

      He’s a naturalized citizen.

Guess you don’t care about all the people losing their job right now because of him, some will become homeless and die because they got fired. Come on buddy, do something!

This is a pretty deliberate falsification of what this idiot is saying using out-of-context quotes. He’s saying that by cutting fraud they’ll be able to raise $1 trillion. He said specifically that they wouldn’t touch Social Security except for fraud.

Of course the claim that there’s $1 trillion of fraud is false, but we don’t need to promote misleading clickbait headlines like this when there’s so much awful news coming out of this administration as it is.

Edit: Look. Social Security and Medicare are about $1 trillion each. To save $2 trillion they would have to eliminate these programs entirely. People would lose their homes. People would starve. If they wanted to start an actual revolution against the government, this is exactly how they would do it. No one is saying to trust any of these people; I’m saying doing this and remaining in power are at odds.

Oh my friend, we read the words. He said it, and you want us to believe he didn’t mean it. And look, we all remember the last few decades when the Republicans have been so desperate to axe these programs. They will keep trying now, because of course they will.

Maybe nobody will accept your interpretation. Sorry…

I really am sorry. It would be better if your view was believable. Reality sucks right now.

Yeah, there’s plenty of precedent where they just redefined the word fraud to mean ‘anything I don’t like’.
