Yeah, I do that. I also soak in the tub with ears submerged for audio blunting as well. Very sensory-deprivation. Quite relaxing.
Only if I bring my life size bathclown with me with the chefs knife attachment and realistic glowing eyes.
Haven’t gotten to do it in ages since my current bathroom has no windows but showering in the late afternoon or just at sunset with just the smallest bit of sunlight peeking through the (closed!) blinds is relaxing, especially in the summer.
Being clean and having wet hair while the summer day’s heat starts to settle and your day winds down is magic.
An old friend told me he did that to cope with dysphoria.
Once I was in the shower with the lights on and I slipped. When I got up I somehow snagged my arm on the faucet and made a deep gash.
Now every time I think of trying it, I imagine what kind of violent shit I’d do to myself if I slipped and couldn’t see.
What do you mean “anyone else”? I was in the shower with you. I feel so ignored!
Can you guys keep it down? I’m trying to sleep on the loo
Geezus Richard, I told you to use the down stairs bog when we were showering! FFS
Richard is such a dick.
Everyday day after work. I have a “nightlight” that I turn on. Other that that all my showers are in darkness. I think it’s a way for me to decompress after being bombarded by artificial light for 10+ throughout my work day. Took my until I was 35 to realize how sensitive i was to light, especially artificial
No, because the monsters would get me.
Monsters don’t eat wet human
All humans are wet on the inside
but the ones wet on the outside are icky ok.
im a picky eater dont judge.
I shall attempt
I split the difference. Shower with a candle in the room. Transparent shower curtain.
This is how all horror scenes start with white people and their candles in the bathroom.
Yes, reminds me of back when I was inside my mother’s womb.
i’m autistic and have quite the sensibilities, including to light. taking a shower is something that has always been extremely calming to me, it shuts a lot of my brain down, including, sometimes, my anxiety disorder part. taking a shower in the dark is the closest thing to a state of pure inner bliss i can reach easily.
I wish autism made me sensible :p
Also autistic, I very much enjoy baths in darkness or very low light.
Poor man’s isolation tank.
exactly! :D
I have ADHD and it’s similar for me. What also helps is background rain noise. Did you try that? Im using cozy time on my PC as it also can play additional relaxing music and has a pomodoro timer.
it’s not enough for me. i have heavy rain currently and while it does calm me down, it’s only one sense that is being stimulated. it’s really the water running all over me that does the trick and the light of lights makes it that much easier to just disappear in my mind.
Only when it’s voluntary. I once had the power go out while I was in the shower. My thirty-something ass instantly aged into an octogenarian convinced he was breaking a hip on the way to open the bathroom door.
Not complete darkness. I got a nice warm led night light (these ones, love em) just bright enough that I can see what I’m doing. But yeah going spa mode after a long cold day is very nice
I knew a chick who would also put on blind fold sleep mask and earplugs… they seemed to like it but I’ve never tried
It’s like their own sensory deprivation chamber
Opposite. I built a second temporary shower under the window (lined the wall with clear plastic for visiting rellies that can’t step into the tub) - it’s nice to shower in the sunshine.
