I’ve spent months testing the Android- and Google-compatible AirTag alternatives. How do they compare vs the Apple, Samsung, and Tile trackers?

With any hope, they all turn/remain shit. The reason why Android trackers aren’t as good is because it’s the one thing they don’t opt you in on, AFAIK. That may vary based on your device manufacturer though since they can add extra stuff.

Most of these devices require you to have the associated app, and most people won’t get it. Why would I? I have none of these devices.

That’s why android supporting airtags is meaningless. It’s barely a security measure cause you have to install an app to be able to find them. Can’t do that if you don’t even know about it. Plus, it’s extra dumb for someone without a device to have to install an app to make sure those devices aren’t being used to track them.

That’s not how it works. You don’t need an app to know that someone is tracking you with an Airtag (or compatible) or a Google tracker on either iOS or Android.
