These laws are fine until something better than c comes out. Then we have to wait for laws to be updated to make changes. We all know how slow government moves.
That kind of things are not wrote as laws. What they usually do, is wrote a law creating a regulatory body, or given the power to an existing one, that can determine how it works. So, when new technologies come around, the regulator just need to update the regulations without the need of a new law.
If this is anything like Europe’s bill then if the USB-IF decides on USB D then they’d follow suit and switch to it.
