I have an Athlon 3000G (YD3000C6FHBOX/YD3000C6M2OFH) I’m trying to pair with a Gigabyte AB350M-DASH.

I’ve assembled the pair, connected to a 750W PSU, but I get no video signal output. The system doesn’t POST, nor does it return any error signal.

It isn’t a RAM error issue as the system doesn’t change behaviour with or without the stick.

Can anyone offer some suggestion on this issue? I’m already considering buying an error code external reader, as the board seems to have a dedicated por for it.

Normally boards will have a case speaker header if they don’t have a display for error codes.

My guess, is that the BIOS hasn’t been updated to support the 3000g series, or rather the latest BIOS which does support it, hasn’t been installed yet.

If that is the possibility, then I’ll have to get another CPU, put it in, update the BIOS and then try again with this one.

I think you should be able to find a used Ryzen 3 1200 on eBay for less than $20 so you can update the BIOS.

make sure you don’t just use the most recent version of the BIOS, iirc they removed Athlon support in some motherboards to make room for 5000 generation chips.

Nothing is ever easy… Another reply mentions the Athlon 3000G requires the F40 update; I’ll stick to that.

    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-DASH-rev-10/support#support-cpu

As the other comment said, your board supports your CPU, but only after bios F40, which came out Jun 14, 2019. If your board was made before (or around) that date then you’d need to do a bios update with an older supported CPU first to make sure it’s updated.

The board has a buzzer so does it beep? You can find the manual on that same page, look up the beep codes. But CPU dead, CPU unsupported, completely fucked RAM can all show up as the same error.

There is a on board buzzer but either it is faulty or there are no error codes to output.

I’m going to buy a buzzer. Their so cheap I don’t have that excuse to give.

As always, start by resetting CMOS

You might need to update the BIOS on a motherboard that old to support the Ryzen 3000 series. Borrow an older CPU from someone, or see if AMD is still doing loaners. You mean Ryzen, not Athlon, right? 😅

Edit: oh I didn’t realize AMD was still using the Athlon brand on Zen CPUs

At this point, even if I have to go and buy an used cpu somewhere to have this machine run, I’ll do it.

I’m finding Ryzen 5 1400 chips for less than 25€. That won’t break the bank.

Just to sanity check cause sometimes it’s easy to overlook the obvious - Did you plug in all the power cables? The extra CPU connectors on the mobo, and the gpu?

I bought a completely new PSU to supply this machine, exactly because I was aware my old one would not be able to provide the required power.

This motherboard has a separate 8 pin port for CPU power alone, besides a motherboard 24 pin plug.

But GPU? This chip, to my knowledge, is an APU; it already comes with a graphics chip.
