    What if they need to transport a load of bricks, or sand, or scaffolding?

    I imagine there are more than a few loopholes in the ‘no cars’ policy.

      It’s no private car ownership. If you need a load of bricks, if delivery isn’t an option, a rental might be.

          Combine that with the fact that this town looks like it has a very slow life style, it wouldn’t be weird to have to wait a month or so for an order. Everyone probably knows each other and if there was an emergency, there would be someone nearby to help patch a roof, even if it was just throwing a tarp over it.
