If you wanna do that, maybe… Go back to 1s style of writing? The original Borderlands has plenty of jokes that worked perfectly without being as constantly in your face as 2.

Goddamn, guys, you did it once already. Remember what you originally set out to make. Just leave the overuse of browns and greys as the primary color pallet back where it belongs.

This is exactly why the first Borderlands remains my favorite. Much better humor.

1 had really good writing. 2 was the clown nose version of 1. Still good in ways, but a lot of what made 1’s writing good stayed in 1.

Based on what I remember, anyway. Been awhile.

I feel it was more consistent humor. It did the job of being a reprieve while keeping to the heavier feel of the overall story, something that 2 only really starts accomplishing when Jack stops fucking around, and his sense of humor changes with it.

Pre-Sequel felt like an overall continuation of 2s writing, but 3 absolutely fucked it right out of the gate. It didn’t feel like a parody, or poking fun at streamer culture, it felt like being locked in a goddamn room full of them.
