I’m watching this video: https://youtu.be/2VujUm6K-IU

At times he is working with his hands with the camera directly on front of him while using both hands to work. The camera never moves or gets bumped. In one shot he is hitting something with a hammer. Is he just hugging a tripod carefully? Using a boom? I’m scratching my head.

I’ve seen it reflected once or twice. He has a tripod basically infront. Like Steve1989’s setup.

Looks like a regular tripod with legs not extended so they fit under the table and then the center column is extended to bring the camera above the table, he then sits behind the camera and brings his arms around it. Quick glance at the original video confirms this seems to all be mostly tripod work. Another comment brings up distortion, which is valid but people are used to this kind of distortion and modern lenses help a lot to keep it under control.

It might not be the case here, but if the lighting is good a chest mounted action cam does a pretty decent job for most people doing things like this.

A random example (not point blank, but the minimum focus distance is pretty short) with a DJI action 4. It’s not as good as a high end real video camera and lenses, but it is a lot cheaper and doesn’t look too out of place. (Also worth noting is that those colors aren’t out of the camera. The video is basically just for me so the accessible one is one I messed around with.)

Incidentally, fantastic channel. I have seen this man repair a wide variety of antique nonsense. I have no idea what he looks like or sounds like.

I’m guessing over-the-shoulder tripod with a telephoto lens. You could also place the tripod between your body and hands, but the wide angle lens needed for that shot would distort much more than in this photo. However, the distortion can be corrected with software.
