Yes, it’s true, Befana doesn’t traditionally other much gift selection either (coal & candy).
But taking away kids is a gift on its own, and things didn’t bring gifts until ppl just started doing so (iirc “father Christmas/baby Jesus” in the pic above didn’t always do that).
Krampus does not bring gifts. Krampus punishes naughty children, nice children get presents from Saint Nicholas, but that’s usually dec 5/6
