Saw this go by on itch.io!

I’m always in the mood for more tabletop solarpunk experiences, and a journal RPG sounds like the perfect thing to tide me over until Earthborne Rangers: Legacy of the Ancestors comes out.

Tell me what a journal RPG is and how it differs from other RPGs?

In a kinda not-comprehensive way: Journal/journaling RPGs are basically the idea of writing a journal of the character you’re roleplaying as. :D

Often times, you make a character, and the game randomizes what situations they find themselves in. Many Journaling RPGs are solo affairs as well. (Seeds of Renewal is about exploring a solarpunk world and writing about your character’s experiences with the communities, ecosystems, and technology they encounter.) :D

A really famous journaling RPG is Thousand Year Old Vampire, where you roleplay as (you guessed it) a Thousand Year Old Vampire and journal about what happens to them over time. :D

If you want to see this format in action, I’d recommend this Shut Up & Sit Down review. They do a great job showing what makes journal RPGs fun and interesting! :D
