I will say, the show has no Batman in it. Interviews with the show runner says he isn’t going to appear, but maybe it’s a lie. Which, is exactly why I had low expectations. However at this point I don’t miss Batman one bit.
In many ways it’s hardly set in the Batman universe. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of Batman references and it helps if you’ve seen the 2022 Batman film. But also if you went into the show knowing nothing, it’s just the story of a gangster (Oswald/Penguin) on the rise.
The first episode sets the tone and everything, so if you like that, you’ll like the rest.

Show any good? Just learned my wife is a Batman fanatic, as in, “there is no bad Batman media”, kinda love.
It’s one of the best shows in years. It doesn’t even matter that it’s set in Gotham. It’s simply a great mob show.
