    Explanation: Hades, the Greek god of the underworld, trapped his wife-to-be, Persephone, in the underworld by having her eat pomegranate seeds, binding her to the place. This is obviously very uncomfortable by modern standards, and even some later Greek myths re-interpret it as being a kind of willing elopement against her mother’s will rather than kidnapping-by-trickery.

      Mythology is part of ancient cultures. Unless you’re interpreting history extremely narrowly as “Events and dates” and not “The study of past societies”, it fits.
