Trump and his allies are crying “election interference” over the Federal Reserve’s decision to slash interest rates

After months of complaining about the crippling burden of high interest rates and expensive borrowing, Republicans for some strange reason don’t seem too happy that the Federal Reserve has moved to do something about it.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve announced it is cutting interest rates by half a percentage point. It’s the first cut since 2020 and a long-awaited decrease to historically high interest rates.

Which they would blame on Democrats. Any improvement under their opponents tenure has to be framed as a bad thing, lest voters notice something good happened with a Democrat in office.

Also it’s something they can’t promise to do because it was just done. Kinda like how the orange idiot had his Congressional bootlickers kill the immigration bill.

Making that promise inherently violates the independence of the federal reserve but I’m guessing none of Trump’s knuckle dragging supporters know or care.

I once worked for an idiot who was a little high strung, and who responded to anything unexpected by getting angry. This exchange actually happened:

Other employee: “Hey boss, the bank called, they made a mistake, you actually have $100 more than you thought you had.”

Boss: “WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT?”

Remember when trump lashed out at FBI directory Comey when he produced a new piece of ‘evidence’ against Hilary in October of 2016, calling it ‘election interference’?

If he thinks that any positive change in an election year is election interference, then that would explain 2020. Maybe it is not that he wanted the pandemic or that he was too incompetent to just let experts help us. He was too concerned with election interference! /s

        He’s panicking.

If the race is close, he can make a play to cause enough violence to reverse the result, like in 2000.

But if it’s an embarrassing blowout? His fat ass is going to jail.

This isn’t panic. Stealing power through sabotage and violence has been the plan for over four years. It’s what all of MAGA’s efforts have been put towards (cultivating fascist paramilitaries, corrupting the judiciary, infiltrating the elections bureaucracy with zealots, etc.). Hell, just look at Trump’s campaigning: he’s spent absolutely fuck-all effort trying to broaden his appeal to win more votes, but lots of effort trying to radicalize his base to coup for him.

He will make a play to seize power through violence, regardless of what the poll results are. That is his primary, intended, planned path to victory.

He’s a complete, delusional narcissist, he genuinely believes most of America loves him, it’s just his enemies who cheat to win. This is true in every setting for him, business, legal, personal, everything.

He was sure he would win 2024 in a walk and blow Biden out of the water, and he’s shocked a woman, a half n-word/half curry-head WOMAN of all people is threatening him!

You can’t understand how he thinks, you have to have been raised by them, he is a devout follower of the religion of Donald J Trump.

I’m saying his original plan was to not need violence, obviously he would win legitimately, he’s Donald J Trump.

And if there’s any chance his enemies will try to steal what’s rightfully his (ie America), he will use as much violence as he can to make them forever regret it.

Your right. My mistake. The officer who died following the induction was Brian Sicknick, who was pepper sprayed and possibly struck on the head with a fire extinguisher, leading to lethal stress-induced strokes the next day.

You’re absolutely right that Officer Brian Sicknick’s passing was a tragic loss. However, it’s important to clarify that while there were initial reports suggesting he was struck with a fire extinguisher or affected by pepper spray, the medical examinations confirmed he died of natural causes, specifically strokes, with no evidence of injuries or an allergic reaction. While the events of January 6 were undoubtedly stressful, no specific physical actions from that day caused his death. I (and the medical professionals that examined him) would definitely not call that “murder.”

If that’s the standard for “murder” than the two Trump supporters that died of heart attacks during the insurrection, the Trump supporter that died of a drug overdose during the insurrection, and that Trump supporter that was shot to death during the insurrection were “murdered,” which doesn’t seem accurate to me at all.

My point was that no one was “murdered” during (or after) January 6. People died, but it was mostly preexisting medical issues or suicide. And the only people that died during/on the day of the insurrection were a part of the group of idiots that were participating in the insurrection in the first place.

Other medical professionals criticized him for his call. The stress and fear from being assaulted by the mob almost certainly triggered the strokes.

If you’re allergic to shellfish and someone forcefeeds you shrimp and you die, they don’t get to say you died of natural causes.

I sort of do have this wish that they were all charged with felony murder for the woman being shot, you know, where if someone (whether innocent bystander or accomplice) dies during the commission of a felony, all the perps get charged as being the reason for the death.

Even as cynical as I am, it astonishes me that the Republicans have become entirely up-front about the fact that they don’t really give a shit about the American people and are only interested in how policy decisions affect them personally.

It’s not just the case that they’ll institute harmful policies if they can blame the Democrats for them or oppose beneficial policies that they can’t claim credit for themselves, but that they do it openly and obviously.

And their wholly emotion-driven supporters remain completely oblivious…

Never underestimate the protestent/evangelicals ability to withstand suffering if it means people they don’t like suffer even more. Suffering is a holy act to them. They’ll happily cut off their nose to spite the face.

There was this town I recall reading about, I’m sure it was probably dozens or hundreds of towns that all have a similar story, but this town was told they had to desegregate their public pool, in the 50s-60s when swimming at the pool was a social event and riding bicycles with cards in the spokes, building treeforts, flattening pennies on railroad tracks, necking at the drive-in, this kind of shit was all there was for kids to do, and they got told to let black people into open swim?..so the town filled the pool with concrete the next day and no one swam.

Shit, GUN REFORM, the last major fun reform law passed in this country, BY RONALD FUCKING REAGEN was because black people started using their right to a firearm and open carry and started patrolling black neighborhoods because the police wouldn’t. And HOLY SHIT the establishment ain’t having that shit no way no how. Self sufficiency? A black neighborhood NOT plagued with crime? Then they’d build up another Black Wall Street or some shit. Down Ronny went with the ban hammer. Down Hampton went into the ground. Murdered by the authorities for wanting better - and willing to the the work himself without the “authorities”. The banality of evil, let me tell you.

Conservatives are more than willing to gamble on attrition. They look at Stalin’s razing and salting hundreds of miles of the most fertile Russian land as a good defense strategy…instead of building more defensive structures…I. Just. Cant.

These people all think they can drop down a few raised beds and be self sufficient, as if there’s no learning curve, or crop failures dont happen. One man with a farm is a death sentence. You need many men with many farms, not just for variety, but just to have enough cereals to get a village thru winter. One early or late freeze and crops are dead in the field, which means so are you. And y’know climate change? That’s already becoming more common. Anyone who says the climate since 2010 is same old as the 90s is lying to you and they know it. I’m in the PNW, and our weather is now California. Summers where we wouldn’t see rain for 100 days. Unprecedented. Unheard of in the twentieth century.

All that and THEN you have to deal with wildlife. Motherfucking animals…I’ve have had a full 50’x50’ garden plus another 25ft² of raised planters for 5 years now (just at my current home, I’ve grown food for multiple decades now) and I have yet to grow enough food for 2 seasons. It’s not easy. If I see another deer destroy my fencing and eat my garden, AGAIN, next year I’m culling the entire population, idgaf.
