Vice President Kamala Harris has claimed that the Biden-Harris administration has led to the largest increase in domestic oil production in history due to a recognition that we cannot over rely on foreign oil. This statement, which contradicts the bipartisan claims that they are champions in the fight to slow global warming, surprised supporters and opponents alike. The Biden-Harris administration has set a target to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and accelerate renewable energy projects. Some environmental groups have criticized Harris’s comments for missing a critical opportunity to show young voters she will fight for climate action.

The Green New Deal dead ended when it died in the Senate. It was never going anywhere.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_New_Deal

    "Legislative outcome

On March 26, in what Democrats called a “stunt,” Republicans called for an early vote on the resolution without allowing discussion or expert testimony. In protest, 42 Democrats and one Independent who caucuses with Democrats voted “present”[203] resulting in a 57–0 defeat on the Senate floor. Three Democrats and one Independent who caucuses with Democrats voted against the bill, while the other votes were along party lines.[204]

    2020 presidential campaign

Howie Hawkins, the Green Party’s 2020 presidential candidate, ran on a Green New Deal platform calling for the U.S. to reach zero greenhouse emissions and 100% clean energy by 2030.[10]

Democratic Party presidential candidate and president-elect Joe Biden has declined to endorse the full Green New Deal plan proposed by members of his party, but he has promised to increase generation of renewable energy, transition to more energy efficient buildings and increase fuel efficiency standards for automobiles.[205] The joint policy proposals developed by the Biden and Sanders campaigns, which were released on July 8, 2020, do not include a Green New Deal.[206]

    The Biden climate plan

In 2021, commentators noted that early climate-related executive actions by President Biden, such as re-joining the Paris Agreement, have much in common with the 2019 GND proposed by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Markey. According to Mike Krancer, while he sees the Biden Plan For A Clean Energy Revolution And Environmental Justice and the 2019 proposal as very similar, a key difference is that the Biden plan includes a prominent role for carbon capture and storage technology.[207][208][35] President Biden’s infrastructure package, which pledges to halve 2005 U.S. greenhouse gas emissions levels by 2030,[209] has been criticized by progressives, including Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, as not being ambitious enough to achieve the scale required to mitigate climate change.[210] Biden’s climate plan is incorporated in his American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan, which would in part lead to the creation of a Civilian Climate Corps modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps.[211]"

Just like Republicans the Democrats like to spin things to make themselves look better but at the end of the day it is just a dressed-up pile of horseshit

Harris’s pick for vice president was Walz and that spoke volumes on her position on oil

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Line_3_protests

Resistance to the Line 3 pipeline expansion is led by Indigenous women and two-spirit people.[35] Ojibwe-led groups including Giniw Collective, Camp Migizi, Red Lake Treaty Camp, RISE Coalition, and Honor the Earth among others have been at the center of resistance.[36] Demonstrators and protesters organizing in opposition to the pipeline refer to themselves as “water protectors”[37] and follow a campaign of non-violent civil disobedience that includes direct actions.[38] Organizers aim to convince the Biden administration to revoke or suspend the pipeline project’s federal clean water permit.[23] Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has not taken a firm stance on the pipeline expansion, which received federal approval under the Trump administration.[18][23]

Opposition to the pipeline persisted throughout the years-long permit process and continued as legal challenges to the project were mounted.[39][18] Opponents of the pipeline organized protests, at one point making an encampment outside of the offices of the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.[17]

After the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gave final approval for the project, it was granted a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency construction storm water permit on November 30, 2020.[40] Construction of the pipeline immediately commenced.

As difficult as it is to see fossil fuel consumption go up temporarily, I can accept that it’s a necessary step on the way to being free from it altogether.

The silver lining being that, by not transporting this stuff internationally, we reduce pollution caused by the need to transport.

She also supported a Livable minimum wage, M4A, and a slew of other items the public wants until she got elected. Classic bait and switch. AOC did the same thing.
