Think he didn’t really mess up, Piastri just did something special

A “championship caliber driver” shouldn’t be bested by a youngster in his second season. I think there is growing evidence that Piastri is the better driver overall and with growing experience he’ll leave Norris behind.

I think what we’re seeing is a nervous first lap Lando. McLaren has two very promising young drivers, but that means a lack of driver experience. That’s why Leclerc won today, he’s been around a bit longer. Once Lando and Oscar start regularly winning races, I think you’ll see them improve a lot. I just hope for them that their car will still be competitive when they get there.

I think Lando has crazy good pace, but yeah, agree. You watch a young lewis go against Alonso, or a second season Max, and there are mistakes but there are a lot more gains than losses with that fast of a car

Agreed. I was at a watch party, but if I heard correctly even Lando agreed with this assessment. I also think that Piastri seems to be more level headed. Yes Lando is young, but he’s been in F1 since 2019! No doubt he’s fast, but Piastri is likely to keep improving as he gets more comfortable in the car. Lando’s starting to feel the pressure of being successful, and it’s showing.
