Even if it’s a small change in your attitude, what is that one thing you can rely on when having a rough day?

I have a few go to activities I can rely on, but they depend on how much time and energy I have to devote to them.

My favorite and most consistent activity is taking a long shower and shaving every inch of my body. Body hair has always been such a huge source of dysphoria for me since I was a teenager over 15 years ago. Weeeellll before I knew what dysphoria was. I would shave my arms and legs until my friends starting making fun of me for it. Didn’t realize it was such a “weird” thing for me to do. I just hated seeing the hair and loved the sensation of smooth skin. 😅

Unfortunately this activity takes me a while if I want to do it right, but goodness do I feel like a new woman when I crawl into bed that night with soft silky skin.

So do you have a similar activity? Is it self care based like like or something different like listening to a favorite music album or watching a comfort show?

All the love, Olivia

i feel you 100% on the shower, i hate feeling hair on my body so getting rid of it all and having super smooth skin is the best and never fails to make me feel better.

and as always, if im ever feeling down i have my dog to lift my spirits, and dam does she do a good job, i mean sure i can be sad while taking my dog on a walk in the woods, but im normally not as sad after.

Animals are wonderful companions that stick with you through everything. They love unconditionally and are surprisingly easy to talk to :)

I’m glad your dog has been such a source of love and happiness ❤️ You two must be incredibly close.

Seconded! Forced myself to do some voice training yesterday, and just… kept going for most of the rest of the day. Every time the playback sounds just right is worth a hundred mistakes.

Going out for a walk in nature, even if it’s just by the trees planted in the sidewalk, is very soothing and regenerating for me. I live in an urban area now so I don’t get the chance to really get away into nature in the way I’d want to very often, but I grew up rurally and see myself as a very outdoorsy/nature kind of guy, and I still do what I can to find the little patches of nature around me.

Personally I like to do a small favour for someone, preferably a stranger. Something simple, like holding open a door, or helping someone in a grocery store if they can’t reach or lift something. Anything like that usually makes me feel much better.

Shaving (just electric, don’t have the patience for disposable/safety for full body and it just grows too damn fast), then shower, then lotion. Then wash all bedding during the day and go to bed with clean sheets and blankets.

    Heaven 🫠

Going outside and being between people. Just having little chats and joking around. And at home I like to experiment with makeup.

Shaving (my face) and putting on some makeup absolutely does help my mental state.

Sometimes I’ll shave other parts of my body; but not as often due to how much prep that takes to do.
