Plenty of sugar cane is grown in the states, why are you getting your sugar from corn.
Corn subsidies
We use tax money to prop up the corn industry because our education system is too shitty for enough people to understand it’s not necessary and doesn’t serve its initial purpose.
I thought the corn subsidy is where all the ethanol was coming from. the way the subsidy works, they pay you by weight, and the corn that is the most dense is completely inedible and useful only for turning into alcohol. that’s my anecdotal understanding
Interesting. I didn’t know about that. My basic understanding is just that the corn industry is not struggling and yet it’s being subsidized while [insert millions of more important issues here] goes underfunded or ignored
according to google, it’s more shelf-stable, and the fact that it’s already a liquid makes the manufacturing process easier. companies first started using it because it was cheaper at the time
Also, a fat and sick population is a profitable one when healthcare is private.
Cuz profit go BRRRRR
