Isn’t it because the writing for The Last of Us and Fallout is, you know, GOOD and not a cash grab like Borderlands was?

And really, Kevin Hart as Roland? Terry Crews would have been a better look and just as funny.

You mean, if you actually get a decent writer who embraces the lore, they can potentially write engaging stories?

I mean, Eureka guys… never would have thought of that.

I mean, I think it started with The Last of Us. That being said, I’m 100% here for more good adaptations of games. Hopefully not dumpster fires like Borderlands. Some people have complained about certain aspects of the Fallout show, but I’d much rather have what the Fallout show is than what the Borderlands movie was.

Fallout is really interesting in that it has very deep lore, that Lore was organically built over time, but it was fairly consistent. I would say more akin to Lord of the rings type of already established universe.

Most video game adaptations have some lore but it’s not very deep. I think it’s a great opportunity for a creative team to explore the lore and get lots of love for it, but it also comes with the risk that if the lore isn’t respected it could cost a bunch of Goodwill

Can’t wait for the Elden Ring Amazon Prime show, I’m sure the normies will love seeing that lore expanded, and GoT has taught us that tv creators are very skilled at handling long, complex, dense works (with heavy input from GRRM).

Until they get impatient, or run out of source material, whichever comes first… Then it’s a mad sprint of tropes so they can finish their contract

If they get Vaati and Quelaag both they won’t even need writers, the series could be like an anthology. Each season, pick a different interpretation of the lore to expound on, use all the same actors, 300 seasons, 1 million episodes, easy.

Or just pay those same writers to work on something original?

Instead they chase popular IPs to milk and pay celebrities ridiculous amounts instead of the people actually making the movies.
