The privacy-focused messaging app arose from a fringe culture that emphasized individual autonomy and skepticism of authority. As it tries to go mainstream, can it escape its roots?

I know lots of people using it. The group chats and disappearing messages are great. Besides matrix it is the only app I trust to have a secure conversion.

Never go into Signal. I don’t know anyone who uses it and I also don’t know anyone who’s interested in using it. Its biggest barrier is getting people to abandon other apps that work with SMS and other protocols for it.

Edit: This is in a user perspective, not a security perspective.
