I thought to post a poly flag for the community, but was reminded on searching, that there are a lot of them. What flag or image do you like? Maybe I’ll cycle them thru? https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=polyamory+flag&iax=images&ia=images
Edit: As the community is new I’d like to roll with this thread for a couple weeks, and hope others will make suggestions, offer opinions, etc. And then I propose we have a poll to decide the fiag or flags. If multiple flags get chosen, then we can cycle them. I suggest a ranked choice vote, as it’s more in keeping with my understanding of the philosophy of polyamory, supports all our community in it’s diversity, and anarchistic.
I am a big fan of the polyamproud one https://www.polyamproud.com/flag
I like the assymetry of this one! What do you like about it?
I really like the colour scheme, idk what it is but it just feels really… joyful? The asymmetry I like, I feel like it represents the sort of flexibility and non-tradition people can have in Poly/ENM relationships?
I really don’t understand flags. Mostly I feel too strong of an association to national and military things. And I’m not a ‘nationalist’, nor do I care for much if any military activities. So I’m pretty sure I might not be the one to decide about this. :-/
What about the non monogamy flag?
Sort of trans colors, and a triangle, is what I see. Triangles have been fun, but not particularly long lasting, for me. Not that longevity is the only thing that makes a relationship valuable. What do you like about this one? The one with a heart/ earth symbol seems odd, as it only shows a very small part of the Earth.
I like that it’s inclusive. There’s so many flavours to non monogamy including polyamorousness and open relationships, so I feel like something like the NM flag has everyone covered.
LoL, NM = NonMonogamy. Cool. Also I just discovered there already is a Polyamory group on Lemmy.World . :-/ Somehow I didn’t find it when I was searching this morning.
The cool thing about the Fediverse is that we’re able to have multiple separate communities for the same thing. Ideally, most get activity, and if one goes down there are plenty of others to flock to. Also allows for different rules and enforcement and vibes. Unlike Reddit it’s not a total loss to end up making a dupe community.
I’ll take that as a vote to keep this community. TY!
