Some of the demonstrations have condemned Israel but others have expressed support while pressuring Netanyahu to strike a cease-fire deal and bring home the hostages.
This reminded me of an old routine by comedian Yakov Smirnoff. He said America was great because of freedom of speech. In Russia, he said, they have freedom of speech too. But in America we also have freedom after speech. That joke really doesn’t work any more, I guess.
Free speech? Handcuffs.
Insurrection? “Please, after you”.
American “freedom” is all talk and no substance.

When I was a little kid we took a family vacation to Nashville and saw Yakov Smirnoff at the Grand Ole Opre with a “traditional” Russian dinner.
It was very weird.
