Well yes, but actually no. You could argue that many a story does not specifically need any sequels. We know that FromSoft is perfectly capable to put out awesome follow-ups to games, though, be it in form of DLC or actual sequels, so the cry for more Bloodborne is one I can understand perfectly well and personally resonate with.
Diablo 1 is also a self-contained story and does not require a sequel to be a good story and game, but despite the corporate, money-driven motivations of ActiBlizzard’s recent Diablo games, Diablo 2 elevated the genre and game series to a whole new level. Who’s to say that Bloodborne 2 can’t? Lies of P is definitely a worthy competitor
