The first two days have been great. I feel like i really made the right decision taking that flight, the weather is just so much better for me.

Sun’s been out for most of the days, i’ve been cycling in my croatia clothes, shorts and t-shirt. Yesterday evening it was raining and had storm gusts that make me question if my tent is norway ready. As you can see in the picture some rain was coming in now too, just a drizzle though. Earlier today there was a thunderstorm, but i had absolute perfect timing, got on a ferry when it started and got off when it ended. Got my phone to charge up to 100% in the last minute of the ride too. The ferries between the islands here are indeed free for cyclists. We saw whales on the ferry, and we saw whales from next to the spot where i camp as well. Watched them with a german family who are here with a van, they had binoculars and they gave me some water so i could set up camp here.

Everything here feels like it’s 2000 m higher up, when you ride into these fjords it feels like some high alpine plateau with a big reservoir, tree line between 0 and about 250m, fresh air, cold wind. Cold tunnels. But different plants and gulls instead of marmots. There’s quite some tourers on this road, almost all are coming towards me. This place seems really easy to travel, lots of tourists around, drivers are considerate and slow anyway.

The thing with the sun not going down definitely needs some more getting used to, kind of hard to fall asleep still, but i will try to do that now. I think i’m not going to post any more updates until i reach a different country.

    Due to the high demand another little update.

    Sadly the sun hasn’t been out much since i made the post. But thankfully it has been only drizzling, not raining hard. I got a slight cold a few days ago. Nothing bad but that one night i feared i might have caught a pneumonia, i kept cycling in the t-shirt in the cold because i got too hot in my puffy jacket.

    Lofoten were awesome, epic camping but i’m sure it’s four times as good with the sun out. I left Lofoten for the main land yesterday and am now heading towards Trondheim, continuing along the coast.

    The route feels very eurovelo. Surprise, it is ev1. Most tourers i come across seem to have a full head of grey hair. Or are very young people. And couples. Almost all of it is on shared roads but drivers are repectful, not all that much traffic for now, except a few bits on the e10 on the lofoten, it’s packed with camper vans.

    The initial ferry hype has worn off a bit and i feel it is kind of distracting at times. I guess i’m talking a bit negative because of the weather.

    To end on a good note, the camping here really is awesome.

    Where i’m writing this message from after some nice, hot pasta and a cold Tuborg.

      Awesome, thanks for sharing. The weather can be a bit of a bummer but in the memories afterwards it’s always pretty OK. Do you know the types of fun? Type 1: fun while you’re doing it Type 2: fun when you’re finished Type 3: starts to be a fun memory 1 year after finishing.

      Road cycling is usually type 2, bike touring/bikepacking is definitely type 1, 2, and 3 at times in a very short period of time. Pasta and tuborg sounds like type 1 though. Keep warm and carry on! Thanks for taking the time to entertain us.
