The Boost for Reddit app still worked for a while after the big shutdown with workarounds, like creating a mod account or using revanced.

Not anymore, as of today, the Boost for Reddit app is completely 100% dead now.

Goodbye reddit forever, hello lemmy

I like lemmy but reddit is still difficult to replace due to lack of content and active communities. But I ain’t using the official app so I guess here we are.

You get used to it. Sorting by New and challenging yourself to kick off conversations helps.

I’d also point out that less content has become a good thing for me.

Less endless doom scrolling, more contributing to discussions and touching grass.

The thing is I use reddit mostly for fun stuff. I took out a lot of the political stuff that was getting me down. There’s not nearly as many niche cute cat subs or active hobbyist game subs on lemmy.

I’ve been on lemmy like 2 years. I like it but I wouldn’t say I’ve gotten used to it.

Its getting better… you’ll be a +1 the activity and who wants bot or toxic activity anyway. Oh and the mods are generally much nicer here

I still use reddit when I’m looking for very specific information, because reddit still is an amazing database of content/info. Many of my searches kinda end up on reddit that way. But I don’t post there anymore and I block all ads. So… I’m still using it but providing nothing in return. I can live with that.

It’s different for everyone, but for me it was just doom scrolling and not so much engaging with specific communites, so actually there really wasn’t a need to replace anything. I just don’t do it anymore and have more time for my hobbies now.
