Hey all, I hope someone can help me or send me in the right direction - if this is not wanted in this community just tell me and I delete my post - no problem.

I’ve inherited this framed picture. It has a signature and is dated 1934. I read the Signature as F. Köhler, but the only renowned artist from that time I found would be Fritz Köhler and his signature looks very different from the one on the picture above.

We’re based in Germany obviously.

Maybe someone could help decipher the signature? It could also be read as T. Köhler or even Köther …

Maybe it is a fake after all? Pretty clueless over here.

I notice from the examples of his work on this page that his signature changed dramatically from work to work, but many look quite similar to the one on your picture. Some are written Kohler, some Köhler, both with the same style F, some have a different style entirely.

Thanks a lot!! The big differences between his signatures throughout his work threw me off but I’m happy to hear that you confirm what I was thinking. The website you’ve linked is a great help too!
