On the contrary, I think giving “marketing terms” to weather phenomena will cement the idea that we’ve fucked it, and get more people used to the idea of taking serious steps.
It’s a bit like why we started naming storms in the UK - so people would take them more seriously.
The names they choose are always a bit soft. Elliot is the name of the softest bitch at a cream tea gala. Give us storm Kyle or Travis, those are the dudes you should be afraid of.

Indeed, there is very little downside to injecting a bit of colour into these names. Though they could reach into sources other than Greek mythology. It would be kickass if we can have scary weather named after Vecna, Angra Mainyu, Yaldaboath, Cthulhu, etc.
If a news article has a question mark in the title, the answer is always no.
