If this TV ever died, it just became the TV stand for a new model without the console. Just stick it on top! Easier than trying to move this thing out
I remember waiting for the tubes to heat up.
The crackle of the static electricity… Ah yeah.
I just repaired a 2004ish crt and had forgotten that noise. Also, holy crap I also forgot about the high voltage >_<
I was gifted a Heathkit TV that looked just like this, long after it went out of fashion. But a free TV was a pretty big score back then, so I used it for years. The remote control used audible high pitched tones to communicate with the TV.
We literally had this model, or very fuckin close. Ours had the push buttons and remote slot hidden behind the right hand side door
My grandma had one of these. She eventually got a new TV, and used this as a stand for it. Just a tablecloth hid what it really was.
Curtis-Mathis, Zenith, Quasar, RCA, Philco - good times!
Off topic, but have you seen the PC-Coffee Maker?
Wow, when you said off-topic, you weren’t underselling it!
Although I would argue it could count as baked in furniture. Fancy wood slats. I almost thought it was a Fractal North case.
No shit: in the early 80s - like, 83? my dad bought one of these GIGANTIC sets. You could answer the phone through it.
