No Rest for the Wicked is an upcoming ARPG from the devs behind the Ori games. From what I understand, it focuses on a slower more methodical play style than other ARPGs like Diablo.

Moon Studios co-founder Gennadiy Korol said on Xwitter that we can expect around “30-40fps” on the Steam Deck, depending on the quality settings. There are some dips to “20-25fps” and some cinematics might make that number “dip more”. But thanks to their “Game Simulation”, the game runs at a locked 60fps, so “the game input for the precision combat remains super responsive!”. Korol goes on to say that this info isn’t “official-official” yet and that they’ll continue to work on performance over time.

“Image quality, performance dips and memory will be further improved as we will be patching and improving the game in the future. I really love how this game feels with Deck’s locked 40fps screen and our 60fps game simulation and responsive input. So hopefully we’ll be able to get to that locked 40fps target sometime after launch.”

Edit: early impressions for the game are out, and performance is much worse than how it was portrayed. I would recommend waiting for further optimization and fixes before picking it up unless you play to play on a much beefier PC.

    20-40 FPS is not an enjoyable experience to 95% of gamers. I think in order for your game to be steam deck verified it should run at a stable 60fps. The deck isn’t even running at 1080p so if your game still can’t achieve 60 fps then it’s not a game for the steam deck.

      Most AAA console games run at 30fps (with a higher fps performance mode option), which would mean that at least 60%+ of gamers are used to 30fps. Also if you look at the top Deck games of last year, it’s filled with games like Baldur’s Gate and Starfield that get 30fps at best. So most Deck owners are fine with lower fps rates too.

      I think getting 30fps on a handheld is perfectly fine for most people and most games.

        Hell I usually limit games to 45 or 30 if they happen to run 50+ on the Deck. Not because I don’t notice a difference but because “what if I can’t charge my Deck for some reason?”.

    • Are there really that many games running at 60? I swear i play most of mine at 30 on my deck and they look perfectly fine, smaller screen helps with a lot of that imo

        I tweaked slime rancher 2 and both subnauticas to at least an average 50. It’s not pretty but it’s super doable, and the small screen gives a good amount of leeway before you even really notice shit like shadows being off entirely lmao

      I’ve played multiple games on the Deck at 30-40 and it’s absolutely ok. Dips to 20 happen too, they are pretty annoying, but what can you do?

      I think a stable 30 is reasonable but I agree that 20-40 is not enjoyable. Honestly even a stable 20fps feels better then highs to lows
