Michigan produces a lot of fruit in general, the climate and soil seems to be very good for it. Probably some of the best in the midwest.
Maybe it’s all the water? Michigan is series of peninsulas all the way down
I live in Washington and we have a huge cherry industry.

Dude we have great cherries this time of year. Most of what is grown in Washington are sweet cherries. Our Rainier cherries are the absolute best.
I saw them on sale today at Grocery Outlet. ☺️
Traverse City, up at the tip of the Lower Peninsula, holds a Cherry Fest every year and also produces some of the best wine in the country. The Great Lakes (Lake Michigan in particular) help to moderate temperatures, and we get a good amount of precipitation every year. Our cherries and apples are outstanding.
