I’m trying to post a picture in c/Aww and on my phone the orientation is correct, however after posting it’s rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise.
I’ve tried using Liftoff app, and the web UI.
Any ideas on how to work around this?

The picture on your phone is not really rotated, there’s just some meta data called EXIF in the image that says the image should be rotated. Lemmy seems to strip this data, which is good because it can also contain more sensible data like GPS coordinates. You need to rotate the image in an image editor as long as Lemmy doesn’t keep the rotation EXIF data.
