Had an opportunity to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Toronto recently and it really far exceeded my expectations. I had read the screenplay when it first came out and was pretty appalled by the hot garbage it was, so wrote the idea of ever watching the play off. Well we had the opportunity to see it on a recent trip and my wife insisted and I’m very glad she did. The plot is still full of holes and inconsistencies, it goes against many of the laws that were layed our in previous books, but holy hell does the production and special effects make you not give a care about any of that. I’ve never seen this level of special effects outside of a movie before. They did an amazing job of recreating the magic of the movies in extremely clever and convincing ways.

I highly recommend watching this of you haven’t yet. Plus they have some pretty good swag that you can only find at the shows

I agree. I do not like the story itself at all, but wow, they managed to make some incredible effects. It made the experience so much better than I expected.

Yeah I don’t know how that plot was ever approved, but the effects more than made up for it. That while ripple they did was so cool that my son still talks about it and he’s an angsty teen lol

Yeah that one was incredible and a bit weird for my brain. I was also impressed by how they managed to do the floo powder.

I ended up having to look up how they managed it after the play and it’s pretty ingenious. The SFX team came up with some very clever solutions though, the polyjuice transformation was awesome too.
