Does federation have a bit of a learning curve? No doubt.

Is Lemmy buggy as heck? Absolutely.

But I don’t think that really justifies a lot of the comments I’m seeing in Reddit alternatives threads that it’s hard to figure out. The front page feed and sort options are very similar to Reddit. Searching for same-instance communities is not too difficult. Posting, commenting, and voting are all quite intuitive. What’s the problem?

Man, I feel old, but watching my kid and students and their friends when something goes wrong with one of their devices is sad. Like, my students and kid are learning martial arts, with weapons, but they can’t figure out how to sideload a fucking app on their own. Gods forbid they have to learn something about the damn things they have glued to their faces lol

I trust any of them with a knife, but I’ll be damned if I’d let them clear the cache in my phone.

So I’m never surprised at the inability of people to adapt to new things
