From right to left, we have:

    • Benito Mussolini, from Italy
    • Adolf Hitler, from Germany
    • Francisco Franco, from Spain

But it’s missing António Salazar, from Portugal, the only dictator that managed to play both sides during WW2, selling tungsten to Germany in exchange of gold, while striking a deal to concede an area for the Allies to establish an air base, still occupied to this day by the US.

    Fuck the entire lot.

That room is missing enough to fill many rooms that size. It’s a shame FDR dropped the ball so bad when it came to outing, naming and punishing the ones in the US.

        Your comment made realize something.

The way it is drawn, one can say the room is being observed from the perspective of another statue in a niche on the opposite wall.

We can stretch this a bit a say the biggest fascist in the picture is the one looking as the scene unfolds and does nothing to intervene.

As someone who’s country got rid of a fascism regime less than 50 years ago, that stings.
