    Then it just degenerates into “you did it first”. At some point, you will need to apply your value system to figure out which genociding party you’ll want to support (if any) because both of them are the perpetrator and victim at the same time.

    This is what leads me to be mostly on Israel’s side on that particular conflict, even though like most people I’m not a big fan of killing civilians. If it was just one side doing that, this would make it easy to choose the other side based on that knowledge – but we all know that’s not true in that conflict.

    Ukraine is a lot easier in that way: Russia is the clear aggressor and perpetrator and I don’t even have to reach for my value system to figure that one out. Although if I did, Russia would lose on those grounds as well. The less the world is like (current) Russia, the better the world is.
