In my county, where the two main candidates for county executive are both conservative fuckwads bickering over which one is the “real” conservative (and which one is the “RINO” 🙄), a major point of contention is whether a new bus maintenance facility will “bring in people from the city” (the obvious racism implied but not directly stated).

One of them is saying “So-and-so wants to fund a new transit facility which will bring in those people from the city.”

A sane response would be “So? Fund the damn infrastructure.”

Not here. The other guy is like “LIES! The new maintenance facility won’t establish any new routes, so those unwanted city folk will remain where they are and not bother us here!”

Yeah… I don’t think my county is getting public transit any time soon… and I feel this may be representative of the outlook in many conservative counties across the US…

There are two flavours of fascism. you can separate them by public transportation or car centric

      Fascist Italy: public transport fascism

      Nazi Germany: Car centric fascism

      USA: Car centric fascism

      Israel: Public transport fascism

Those are just four examples of fascism. I don’t see how the transportation infrastructure is correlated in any way with the fascism, other than how it might influence the logistical planning that would be necessary whether the administration is fascist or otherwise.

It’s like saying “hitler and mussolini both ate food. Noticing a pattern there? Well, trump, putin, and netanyahu eat food too! That makes it a trend. Eating food must be fascist.” Just stop.

Well I personally believe society is already descending into idiocracy fast enough and I don’t feel the need to contribute to that by injecting unserious observations into serious discussions. I’d prefer if some spaces on the internet remain open to the possibility of intelligent discussion without obfuscating things by raising deliberately BS points…

I get that this is a meme community, but I wouldn’t exactly call this a shitpost…

it’s just interesting that in some fascist applications, it’s all about hyperinfocidualism and public transportation are seen as woke bs.

while others focus on the state and public transportation is seen as a national pride, because it’s good for the state.

wouldn’t call it a shitpost either, just a curious observation.
