Couldn’t the fake offer the warranty too? It’s not like it’ll be sent back to them (after 30 days or so), but to Samsung for RMA.

I don’t really understand? Samsung will trivially be able to tell that it isn’t theirs and decline the warranty. If they bother to check, of course, and if there are enough being RMA’d that is even worth the effort for them.

Also I’m sure the fake Samsung already claim that same warranty, as they are being sold as originals who have the 5 year warranty. So what exactly are you asking for?

The scammer with the fake can claim it has a 5 year Samsung warranty on their listing or whatever. They sell it and get paid. The purchaser who has no idea it’s fake then attempts an RMA with Samsung which fails.

The scammer still has the money, they don’t need to care if it actually has a 5 year warranty but can say that it does if that SKU has it.

The problem isn’t that people aren’t buying the fakes because they don’t offer a warranty, the problem is if you buy a fake one by accident you won’t be able to warranty it.

No. You have to have both proof of purchase and provide a serial number that Samsung can use to validate. The fakes would not have a proper serial number since Samsung didn’t produce them.

Right but the people who are selling the fakes don’t care about that as long as they can get their money. They can just claim it has a 5 year Samsung warranty, people won’t be duped until they attempt an RMA.

Sure, but the comment I replied to asked why they would care as long as the performance was the same. I gave them a reason why I would care.

Also, I typically register my hardware in the warranty portal when I get it, not when I need to first RMA it. That means that I would catch it almost immediately.
