The penultimate episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’s first season was a big one for many reasons, including that it was directed by Captain William Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes. Ahead of next week’s finale, we were able to talk to Frakes about the big reunion between Caleb (Sandro Rosta) and his mom Anisha (Tatiana Maslany), how he directs such a storied franchise, how he deals with fan community hate, and more.
And specifically fuck them for making so much noise about representation that actual criticism gets drowned out.
I’m worried that the creators will think anyone who doesn’t like the show has a worthless opinion and won’t learn and improve, and may even double down.
That’s my problem in a nutshell. I have no problem with woke material when done well, but i utterly detest this fake virtue signaling. It’s the exact same tripe as every fucking company having a rainbow flag on their Twitter account for the month of June. It’s performative, obvious, and infuriating that more can’t see how insulting it truly is.
