Am I the only one in getting more and more cynical by the day about the state of the gaming industry?

I keep seeing news after news about these kinds of malicious practices against regular customers. DRM, micro transactions, ID checks etc…

Is there any way for us to make a meaningful impact against this kind of stuff? I just hate seeing a hobby that I have had since I was a kid going down the gutter so fast.
