An investigation by the University of California, Berkeley has found no grounds for canceling a controversial anti-Israel event that drew complaints from Jewish faculty, a spokesman said on Friday.

A description of the event, organized by the university’s Gender and Women’s Studies Department and published on its website, said it would discuss how Zionism “weaponizes” feminism to promote genocide and how the atrocities committed against Israelis on October 7, particularly rapes, were fabricated.

paywall, but is it accurate to call this event “anti-Israel”?

This isn’t about being against Israel or on some other team than the jews living in Israel. This isn’t about getting rid of Israel (whatever horror that could entail).

This is about stopping a genocide and treating human beings like human beings.

    That is it.

This is not about being anti-Israel.

The protest movement is about specifically being against violent over simplification of other groups so summarizing these events as “anti” any one thing other than anti-violence or anti-xenophobic is disengenuous to the overwhelming majority of people participating.
