I am disgusted and I think I hope I will be disgusted for the rest of my life because shame on me if I let the memory of this atrocity committed and facilitated so closely by my government fade from my mind.

Let me point out before any pro-Israel people respond (Do y’all still want to have an adult conversation or did most of you fall silent as more and more images come out from Gaza? Don’t worry we won’t let you quietly step away from the conversation, this isn’t how it works : ) ), this is catastrophic for the jews living in Israel. I don’t know what the form of reactionary violence and consequences will be, or how the mechanisms of rot function precisely in a population that has been radicalized into genocidal beliefs that eat away at all that is beautiful and kind about that culture… but I know the potentials for now mercifully only recorded in grief or expressions of emotion will not simply remain potentials.
Shame on us all and may the way the victims of our violence deal with the trauma we have caused be more merciful than the way we dealt with our fears and traumas…and may we also never forget how cowardly it is to only realize how desperately we wanted this to be true after the severity of consequences from our willful blindness became apparent.
It’s how long this has been allowed to go on for that disgusts me. The images from a year ago were awful enough to show how much Gaza had already been devastated.
