When politicians are so convinced of their own righteousness that they start interfering with one kind of medical treatment, you know they would feel justified to interfere with other medical treatments as well, and to interfere with anything else they feel like. If you don’t have the time and patience to vote these authoritarians out of office then you have no choice but to vote with your feet. Those who can afford to relocate are the young ambitious professionals of the state, so conservative politicians are enabling a brain drain that enriches liberal states. Not smart.

Northern Idaho was thrown into such a legislative crisis that doctors not only had to leave patients dying in the parking lot, but also risk their livelihood and practice.

Northern Idaho is now stranded with no delivery and childhood care without a 45 minute drive, or crossing the state border.

… Northern Idaho was just the beginning.

Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile.

Missouri, Florida, and Texas are among at least 20 states that have limited components of gender-affirming health care for trans youth. Those three states are also among the states that prevent Medicaid — the public health insurance for people with low incomes — from paying for key aspects of such care for patients of all ages.
