    THX for the effort.

Steam summer sale is a little less than 2 weeks. I imagine it’ll go in sale for the same price, if not lower. Better to wait to see if you can get a better deal.

Honestly highly recommend Cyberpunk. I was never part of the hype train and played it early this year and was blown away by how much it made me like the world I was in. I might be biased though, because I watched Edgerunners first and bought it 10 minutes aftwer watching the last episode.

I can’t explain why but there’s something really special about Cyberpunk that’s a thrill. I am looking very forward to Phantom Liberty.

I was reading that the Phantom Liberty DLC is going to improve the base game as well. Would you recommend waiting until Phantom Liberty releases to play the base game, or just play it now?

I want to say wait for Phantom Liberty just because I hate replaying myself a lot, but if you can’t wait the game is in an excellent shape. It’s not the most deep RPG I’ve played, but if you like cyberpunk settings then Night City has you covered. The game also has some great quests and characters.

So if you are comfortable with replaying with Phantom Liberty, then go for it champ and get it now. But if you only think you have the stamina for one playthrough, the game can be quite long if you are a completionist playing the side quests and gigs, then I suggest waiting for Phantom Liberty.

I’d definitely pick it up during the Summer Sale. With the DLC coming out soon and rumors of it being a soft relaunch of a lot of stuff, it’s likely they’ll keep it out of deep sales for a while

While owning the games is great, the site could be improved if they crosscheck and mention all of those games if they are in the XBox gamepass available on PC.

Most of the time you will be able to finish those games in a month and have a cheaper deal that way.

Out of this list, the following games are on the gamepass:

    • Forza Horizon 5
    • A Plague Tale: Requiem
    • Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition
    • Grounded
    • The Outer Worlds $19.79 on Steam
    • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
    • Pillars of Eternity - Hero Edition
    • Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
    • Deep Rock Galactic (No Crossplay though)
    • House Flipper
    • Road 96
    • Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
    • Injustice 2 Standard Edition
    • Frostpunk
    • Generation Zero
    • Moonlighter $2.99 on Steam
    • No Man’s Sky $29.99 on GOG
    • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition
    • Middle-earth: Shadow of War™ Definitive Edition
    • Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
    • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition

    Additional similar Titles:
    Crusader Kings III
    Mortal Kombat 11

Some of the EA Play and Ubisoft connect games might also be available to play, they do have a partnership with Gamepass. These are just harder to look up in the client

What’s the alternative for those of us who own a steam deck and don’t want can’t install windows? Streaming with xcloud is not a viable option since the main feature I need (besides portability) is the hability to stop the game in any moment and resume in the same place instantly.

I think game pass is great with all the games they provide. I’ve used it for some time and I really like it but I’m on a different place now where I need certain features more than a lot of great games

I also have a steamdeck, but that is a hard ask.

Without Windows you will have to stream it probably:

        • if you have a normal PC but you just prefer using the steamdeck anywhere at home, you could stream your PC with Sunlight&Moonlight (kinda like steamlink but people say it works better)
        • GeforceNow might also work
        • If you own an Xbox you can also stream from there instead of using xcloud. This should also be no issue for quick resume.

        Other Options requiring Windows:

        • I believe you can install Windows to a microSD so you can just use the SD card if you want to boot to windows instead.
        • Other option would be to get an Asus ROG Ally

That was my point, there’s a lot to do if you want to experience the steam deck capabilities with game pass. I’m not saying it’s not great, of course it is, but as a parent with very very very limited time, it’s not useful for me (yet). Here’s hoping we get a client for Linux some time soon or I’ll have to tinker to install windows on my ssd.

Thank you anyway for all your recommendations, really appreciated.

With Steam you’re essentially paying a (sometimes) premium for a whole suite of features: Steamworks (drop-in support for matchmaking and multiplayer lobbies), numerous edge servers on a global CDN (faster downloads), Steam input (plethora of configuration options for any controller or HID), remote play (play local games with a remote player), shared shader caching, upstream contributions to the Wine, Vulkan, DXVK et al stacks, a highly open and permissive API, streaming video of your game while you play it, Steam cache servers (build a local fileserver to cache game downloads), the list goes on. And if you find a bug, you can report it on their bug tracker and someone will actually investigate it. It is a no-brainer.

Other services just give you a desktop shortcut at best. People say, “I don’t need these features, I just want games.” If they’ve ever launched a game on Steam, they’ve probably benefited from these features and more without realizing it.

I really hope Microsoft is working on this. Either a way to use gamepass with Steam, or (more likely) a game pass launcher/storefront for Linux. They seem to be playing nice with the Steam Deck so far (e.g. getting Halo TMCC multiplayer to work on the stema deck), so I’m hoping it’s just a matter of time.
