So I’ve not been on reddit since the blackout, how many communities are continuing the blackout ?
About ~58% of the subreddits that pledged to go dark/restricted are still in that state currently. It does seem to be an ever-dwindling number though and I’ve seen several subreddits that I’m part of vote against going dark indefinitely and to remain open after the initial protest.
What will be interesting to see is the number of users for reddit after June 30th. How many leave when 3PA shut down vs how many stayed and use the official app. I have pretty much left reddit as most of the subreddits I am subscribed to have gone dark indefinity and will leave for good come June 30th.
It would be funny as hell if all the main subs just abandoned moderation and let everything be a free for all.
Oh man, could you imagine? Mods taking a page out of the malicious compliance playbook and completely opening up the subreddits? That would be a sight to see.
I feel like a small contingent of people could so annoyingly harass reddit advertisers their unprofitable business could be imploded by the end of the year. Like so few people pay attention to ads already, if reddit ads invited negative attention I think it’d be really easy to get advertisers to just abandon the platform.
People on reddit get very mad when I suggest this. bootlickin dweebs
Oh no, what about Spez’s IPO scheme? that poor guy needs all his money! :'(
