What does everyone think about the changes to Allied Races and Riding Skills? I for one am excited, at least for the Allied Races updates. I don’t really mind one way or another for the Riding Skills. It’ll be nice not to have to dump a load of gold into skills and basic mounts for each new character, but the game hands gold out hand over fist in the early levels.

I was looking at the requirements for unlocking the Zandalari Trolls earlier tonight, and WOW. 😱 That’s a big time sink! I imagine it’ll feel like treason for those who went through all the steps to unlock the allied races prior to the patch… But it’ll be nice not to have to drag myself through all those steps. 😅

What’s the community’s thoughts on these changes?

10.1.5 isn’t out yet, and there’s no official date as far as I know. Just nebulously “this summer.” There are more changes, including Warlock coming to a bunch of new races. Full patch notes here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/dragonflight-fractures-in-time-ptr-development-notes/1587226

I like the riding skill change a lot. Mainly because I never remember to buy the riding skill when I reach the level and just keep running around :D I also keep forgetting to put my skill points to use too…

I started playing when Shadowlands just came up, so I have almost none of the allied races unlocked. I’ve been looking forward to doing that, but just haven’t found the time to do that. I suppose all the quests etc. will stay in the game, but now there’s less incentive to do them.

I’m still waiting for the cross-faction play in open world and queued instances too, but maybe that’s coming in the future too.

My lifetime of being a cheapass with all my alts is about to payoff. And also I’m definitely going to make some allied race alts now that i don’t have to go back and do all the old content i avoided by skipping BFA and SL.

As someone who unlocked a majority of the allied races the old fasioned way having come back from not playing since WOTLK, it should have happened a long time ago. I’m not mad they’re making it available to everyone after I did it, I’m glad they’re finally making it available to everyone. I can finally reccomend the game to my friends and they can play whatever race they want!

I sometimes feel that the reputation system in WoW has gotten out of hand. I’m glad that new players will just have the races available to them

Removing requirements for allied races was long due IMO, it doesn’t make any sense to have to grind so hard in old xpacs.

It doesn’t feel treason to me, I got almost all of them already but I gave up on the last few, glad those who don’t have them yet don’t have to go through all that slog, a game is meant to be fun after all.

As for riding, I wish they gave refunds lol, I spent an insane amount of gold to unlock fast flying on all my chars, many of them when you still had to pay twice for it, tho it’s nice not having to pay anymore.

I think I’ll miss trainers though, I know some people might think they’re unnecessary, but it adds to the RPG aspect having to talk to an NPC to learn something new IMO.

I’m also impressed about the extension of the warlock to so many new races.

In general, I think they’re killing it with dragonflight, it’s been quite a long time since I had so much fun for so long after an xpac release.
